I agree that Dunst nails her role. The best part of the movis is when they stumble upon the war crime of the men burying their victims in a mass pit.

And then we descend into cockamamie..... They run away from guns lying on the ground, in a gunfight.... you'd have to be stupid to not pick one up and defend yourself.

But the movie rights itself with the depiction of the firefight at the White House. I found this part gripping.

But they can't resist the cockamamie.... so Dunst has to die giving her life to save the young and dumb (but very brave) young photog.... and Dunst jumps in front of a hail of bullets and..... well, not a great ending....
