I always paid for the first date. Some women would say "let's split this."

And I would say "I am more comfortable paying since I did the inviting. If we get down the road, I would love it if you invited me. But when I invite, I'd prefer to pay."

Did some women take advantage of that? Maybe. I don't care. I never invited anybody to a $300 meal on a first date.
